Modern whiskey around the world is made in the same way, using virtually the same equipment, the same yeasts and aged in the same wood, oak. Before prohibition in the United States and around the world, and specifically in Ireland, many distilleries were family businesses that followed the same practices that developed in Ireland and Scotland in the 18th century. After prohibition, whiskey production fell predominantly into the hands of large corporations that attempted to produce the greatest volume at the lowest cost using the most efficient equipment. During this process many old techniques and practices were discarded. Some of these techniques and practices were captured in various texts that have survived to this day. As part of the research for the distillery, we discovered many old recipes and different distillation procedures. These practices and procedures have been used in the preparation of our whiskeys. At the BB distillery our goal is to make whiskeys with the same flavor and consistency as they were made 150 years ago. We seek to make whiskey as it was made 150 years ago, seeking new combinations of old recipes and distillation practices with alternative woods.

In short, we strive to make what is old new again.

After spending many years working in mining and mining projects one day I decided that the time had come to start my own business. And after my “if you build it, they will come” moment, I decided that a whiskey distillery was needed in Mendoza and the time was now. Having been a whiskey lover for many years and having traveled extensively around the world, I have tried many whiskeys and have my own idea about what type of whiskey I would like to make as my signature. But as many master distillers could tell you, sometimes perfection is something that may never be achieved, but it is worth a shot.
Recently, my dear mother Patricia Ann Brook completed extensive research into our family history and found many colorful characters, many of whom worked in pubs and breweries. Including one notorious figure, William Whitlam, who manufactured moonshine in his home. While the decision to start the distillery was mine, my ancestors are to blame for my love of whiskey. My grandfather Patrick Richard Price, who was a great man, loved whiskey very much .
